TIPS TO PROTECT THE GRAINS IN BINS
Grains are checked regularly in order to protect them from damages and losses and they are checked regularly because seeds act as fruits of agriculture. Regular checking of grains will helpful to protect the seeds from insects and increase the output.
Some of the tips to be followed to protect the seeds from damages
1. Bins should be inspected
Missing bolts, damaged sheets sidewall bulges of the bins have to be checked before grains are storing into the bin.
2. Foundation of the bin should be levelled
To protect the grains from entry points for water, insects, or rodents proper foundation should be maintained.
3. Bins should be cleaned properly
Remove all old and damaged grains and cover the structure with rust inhibiting primer or paint
4. Oiling and greasing the motor bearings regularly
Make sure the bin parts should be greased regularly.
5. Check the bin from rooftop to the bottom
The bins shouldn’t leak as it may cause rust in the containers that will create a toxic environment and not good for grain storage.
6. Check the anchor bolts of the bin.
Bolts of the bin should be in good condition and tightened.
7. Aeration points should be cleaned at intervals
Be sure to get under the aeration floors and inside the aeration tubes. Remove any debris and keep an eye out for insect infestations.
8. Check the bin doors properly
Installation of the doors should be checked before grains are storing into the bin.
